Aaaah, the Romance

Yesterday, while grocery shopping in Target, I was becoming increasingly frustrated, trying to find a Valentine gift for Scott, and ended up telling him so on the phone, "OK, I got your Valentine gift, but it's not that great. You're so hard to shop for!" He of course, didn't care.

Later, however, something must have clicked, because he asked me nervously when he got home, "Um, how much did you spend on my gift, because I uh, didn't know we were doing gifts and uh...."

I interrupted, "50 dollars. I spent $50 dollars on your gift."

"Oh, OK..."

SILENCE

"Just kidding, it was 8 bucks.... and lame. I just wanted to score a cool gift."

BIG SMILE on his face and a silent, "Phew". "Ha ha ha, that's funny, Renee, that's funny."

That's amore folks. Happy Valentine's weekend.

This conversation has played down through the centuries at least a bazillion times! (at least it has in our house) There's something about having to buy a romantic gift when the pressure is on that takes the fun out of it ... and the romance. Not that I'm saying we shouldn't ... you'll never hear me say that.

You should have let him sweat it out a little longer, or at least until you scored that sweet gift ;)

Yeah, I bought James absolutely nothing for Vday. But in my defense...it was his birthday yesterday so I got him something then. Actually, I got him a little cooler that you plug into your computer to keep your pop cold. I thought it was cool.

I love the $50 joke. I do things like that too.

Plus, please refrain from talking about Target in your blog...it makes me cry. Thanks.

so funny.
can i say...
married life on valentines kindof... sucks.

i don't want him to buy me anything cuz i know we can't afford it...

and everything out there are for cheesey high schoolers that just want some action. I would love 10 hours of sleep with out getting disturbed... however that's not very romantic. :)

"My professional life has been centered on the home, the well being of the family and everything that these subjects encompass. When I began working in this area more than 25 years ago, the subject of homemaking as it relates to families was largely overlooked, though the interest was clearly broad and the desire for information strong. My colleagues and I soon discovered we were satisfying a deeply felt unmet need."
