These Boots Were Made for Walkin'

Here comes winter, and at our house that means Renee pulls out the big guns. There are a few items in my wardrobe that are so dear to my heart I wear them almost daily. Are they attractive?... no, they're not, but oh so practical.

Number 1: wellies- I bought my wellies about 4 years ago via JCrew catalogue and have loved them ever since. I even made little bootie inserts with gellins so they can be worn for hours and I do. Sometimes I even wear them to church because you know what, it gets cold here on Sunday too.

Number 2: long puffer coat- This is another very unattractive item of clothing that I can't live without. I look like a fat chimney sweep in it, especially with the above mentioned wellies, but it's AMAZING!!! I might even buy another one and make a pair of pants out of it.

Number 3: scarf, any scarf: There's a trick to wearing scarves that is guaranteed to keep a girl warm and sassy. Fold in half the long way, then fold the short way. Wrap around your neck and pull the raw ends through the loop. Then fluff. FABULOUS. Unlike the previous 2, this is very cute.

So, what are your indispensable wardrobe items, good or bad?

My sweats. Technically they are yoga pants - actually they might be called boxer pants. Anyway, they are from Lululemon (check out the website you Americans - so yummy), so they are high-end, high-quality, high-style, but still, they have an elastic waist. I actually have 2 pairs - so I can rotate and never have to wear real pants.

My three in one lands end coat. I keep both parts in my car at all times so I can wear one the other or both together. Not cute at all but it gets the job done. I need some cute scarfs!

Just got some rain boots that I LOVE (never needed them in San Diego, so sadly I am 35 and just got my first pair). I have a couple REALLY cute scarves that make the rotation, but my go to item would have to be my "ugg" type boots. I am always cold and they keep my toasty warm :)

My pumkin pants while indoors and definitely my butt-kicking tall boots for outdoors otherwise all my long jeans drag in the sludge. I really do love to cuddle up in layers and sweats in the house and it isn't very attractive but it feels so yummy!

My new monogrammed Cheetah jammies. I got them for my birthday and have been wearing them every night since. Okay by night I mean from about 5pm until 10 or so the next day. I would wear them out and about if I really didn't care. But I do, so I won't. So I then change into my black velvet pants and jacket. My winter wardrobe is pathetic. All I care about is warmth.

First off, you couldn't look fat if you wanted to! I love my polka dot pajamas! They are so soft and warm, I even wear them in the summer--who cares, turn up the A/C. Saturdays were meant to wear PJs.

My FLIP FLOPS

WWMD

"My professional life has been centered on the home, the well being of the family and everything that these subjects encompass. When I began working in this area more than 25 years ago, the subject of homemaking as it relates to families was largely overlooked, though the interest was clearly broad and the desire for information strong. My colleagues and I soon discovered we were satisfying a deeply felt unmet need."
