Spring has Sprung

I love Spring! You get to garden, open your windows again, kick the kids out... it's great! Scott and I just built a retaining wall (before we were all struck down with the stomach flu) about a week ago and I'm so excited to get a couple of new things planted. I did successfully plant two varieties of lilies last year and they seem to be coming up as planned. I'll post pictures when/if they bloom. My roses are coming back too, but I need to spray them. I didn't do the typical knock-out variety because I don't like single bloom roses, and these "Janet" heirlooms are a lot more difficult. Hopefully soon they'll start blooming.
I can't wait to join a gardening club when all my kids are in school. I love to suck the knowledge out of unsuspecting old people! Old people like this guy in the picture...and no, that's not me next to him.

We opened up our windows yesterday and Dallin played outside for three hours straight. It was soooo nice!

I'm with you about gleaning from the elderly...look at that guy, he could teach you anything you want to know.

FYI I didn't think that was you in that pic, I just didn't know who it was.

They're my cousins. Just kidding, I don't know who those two gardeners are, they just looked so happy and wise!

Planting flowers already! What a different world - we just had another snowfall last night. I don't think it'll stay on the ground more than a day though, it seems to be warming up already. That's the joy of spring here - the snow may come, but it doesn't stay.

"My professional life has been centered on the home, the well being of the family and everything that these subjects encompass. When I began working in this area more than 25 years ago, the subject of homemaking as it relates to families was largely overlooked, though the interest was clearly broad and the desire for information strong. My colleagues and I soon discovered we were satisfying a deeply felt unmet need."
