A Tale of Four Kitchens

1. This is the kitchen from Turkey Hill, Martha's former home in Connecticut. It was an 1805 farmhouse she renovated many times over, but in the 90's, she completely remodeled her kitchen, adding cream cabinets and this enormous pot rack. I love how light and bright this kitchen is, don't you?

2. In her New York City apartment, Martha goes a bit more modern and has a nearly all stainless and glass kitchen. This is more of a galley style, which I love, and is very clean looking.

I bet Martha is a very good dish washer.

3. Out of all of her homes, Skylands in Maine is definitely the most rustic and earthy. She uses a lot of beautiful wood, stone and other natural elements, but my favorite is this open wooden shelving she calls "The Great Wall of China". It's so pretty, but is it practical? I think it would get dusty, but it's probably not a problem when you have a cleaning staff.

4. Last but not least, Martha's newest kitchen, on her farm, Cantitoe corners. I love all the different grey tones and marble, but Scott thinks it looks like a prison. Hmmm....
Which one do you like the best?

I would definately say that the first 2 are my choices.

I like the prison. It is not as sterile as the stainless steel but more simple than the others.

I love elements of them all. I remember that skylands kitchen - and I loved it. I never thought about the dust on the china wall, just about how great it looks.

I would like Matha to wash my dishes.

I also love the sink in the Cantitoe Corners kitchen - but I'm not sure about the cabinets. I'd have to see it in real life.

So when I get my invite, I'll let you know my final answer.

I LOVE the turkey hill home in CT. It looks warm and inviting, like you can hang out while Martha makes you cookies :)

I'd take any of them right now...they're clean! Sure beats the mess I'm staring at!

My favorite is Turkey Hill (minus the pot rack. (No need to pretend I actually cook these days.)

My next favorite is Skylands, but I would put colored plates (all different colors) on the "Great Wall of China."

I like Cantitoe Corners too, but I like more color than the lemons provide.

Look at ME giving Martha all this advice -- what a crack up!

"My professional life has been centered on the home, the well being of the family and everything that these subjects encompass. When I began working in this area more than 25 years ago, the subject of homemaking as it relates to families was largely overlooked, though the interest was clearly broad and the desire for information strong. My colleagues and I soon discovered we were satisfying a deeply felt unmet need."
