Thankful Thursday, Saturday morning

I'm thankful for the rain! Landscaping in the middle of a Tennessee July is a rotten idea, however, this has been the most unusual summer right? When has it ever been mid 80's with regular rain showers and a cool breeze.... where are we? I say heaven. I haven't had to water my stinking lawn in weeks!!!

I'm thankful for Indian food. My good friend Linda gave us some authentic recipes a few weeks ago, so Scott and I went to a local Indian store to do a little shopping. Turns out, there is a wonderful Indian restaurant just a few doors down, so we decided to check it out. THE FOOD WAS FABULOUS!!!! We got a lamb curry and a spicy vegetarian dish with homemade cottage cheese called, Paneer Jalfraizi... oh and of course Naan bread on side. Mmmmmm, yummy.

I am thankful for the Vita-mix. We've been making yogurt drinks, ice cream, shakes, blizzards, you name it in this thing. Easy to use, easy to clean, what's not to love?! It's incredible.

Last but certainly not least, I am thankful for a good doctor and a good prognosis. My footballer Spencer had his first serious injury at practice this week and ended up at the clinic with a concussion. He's fine now, but has to take a little time out of football. While this scares me, I am so grateful for his enthusiasm and talent, and will just pray that nothing else will go wrong.... at least for a season. I'll will also carry around a jar of Tums from now on to practice.

Poor Spence. Vita-Mix, my sister in laws swear by it. I just use my $20 blender. What's the diff? (And I don't mean that in a defensive and judgemental way - but really - what's up with the Vita Mix?)

Also - I love Indian Food. I just had some last night. I'd love to get your recipes.

I love you list this week. We've had rainy, cool weather too and the neighborhood gardens have never looked better. Lamb curry and naan bread - be still my soul! Glad you son is doing better -- one of mine received a concussion during a football game one time too. Scary -- wicked bad headache, but with rest he was as good as new!

"My professional life has been centered on the home, the well being of the family and everything that these subjects encompass. When I began working in this area more than 25 years ago, the subject of homemaking as it relates to families was largely overlooked, though the interest was clearly broad and the desire for information strong. My colleagues and I soon discovered we were satisfying a deeply felt unmet need."
