Thankful Thursday

A few weeks ago, I was downtown shopping, when I noticed tons of people in hoop skirts and Civil War uniforms. Of course I immediately thought, "Did I go back in time?", and then I thought, "Duh, it must be the ceremonial burial of the unknown soldier every one's been talking about!" How silly of me.

I love living in the south, and I'm thankful especially to be here in Tennessee. It's a beautiful state!!!

I am thankful for "Family Home Evening". It's such a great program, and while it can be extremely aggravating and trying at times, it's wonderful to see my children learning to do so many different things. Last week Grace was in charge of the lesson and put together the "Happy Box". She had various items inside that represented things we can do to be happier people, and we had to guess what was what. It was so creative! Every week, my children learn to teach, conduct, lead music, etc. through Gospel principles! It's truly a blessing, and a reminder that the Lord knows exactly what we need, even when we don't. I am thankful for sweet surprises. Our Young Women at church surprised me and a couple of other gals last Sunday with a gorgeous bouquet of roses, thanking us for our help with the Youth on Broadway program. I have to admit, I didn't do nearly as much as the other two gals, but gladly accepted the roses, and had them proudly displayed in my kitchen until they completely shrivelled up!

What a great list. You have much to be grateful for. Like you, I love Tennessee. Unfortunately, I can only visit, but it is a beautiful state! That box is priceless. It's so nice to feel appreciated -- the roses were beautiful!

I must have missed the whole burial of the unknown soldier, do I live under a rock? Your family home evenings sound wonderful!

Wow.. that's awesome your kids have grown so much through family home evenings. I love Gracie's FHE lesson. That's awesome! We do have some great youth in the ward! And they are so lucky to have such a great leader.

"My professional life has been centered on the home, the well being of the family and everything that these subjects encompass. When I began working in this area more than 25 years ago, the subject of homemaking as it relates to families was largely overlooked, though the interest was clearly broad and the desire for information strong. My colleagues and I soon discovered we were satisfying a deeply felt unmet need."
