New Year's Resolutions

In church yesterday, one of our lovely young women spoke about goals. She quoted her mother, "Goals not written are only wishes" and it struck a cord with me. I've been thinking about my 2009 resolutions since the first, but hadn't written them down yet. -Partly because I didn't make it a priority and mostly because making them a priority would mean having to start working on them. BUT, we had our FHE (Family Home Evening) after church and we all, even Sophia, made a few goals to post where we could see them. Family goals were made as well.

So, I'm hoping that posting here, where the whole world (my 5 blogging friends) will see them, will provide some extra motivation...

1. Read the RS lesson ahead of time.... not during Sunday School.

2. Lose 10 lbs and keep it off this year.

3. Daily personal scripture study, even just one verse.

4. Learn Korean for reals.

5. Get better at making clothes.

6. Get the kids to the library every 2 weeks.

7. Attend the temple once a quarter. (I know I'm lame!)

8. Finally make some more visuals for Nursery singing time.

9. Write in my journal aka blog, more regularly.

I'm officially starting tomorrow.... oh wait, I'm busy tomorrow, Wed then.
Do you want to share some of yours?

I'm keeping mine more simple, I just want to be happy. So, I will choose to be happy each day. And I'd like to lose 20 lbs - but I won't let that stop me from being happy. That's it!

That was an excellent talk wasn't it. I think your goals are great. I keep saying that I need to write down a theme for the year... maybe before the end of the month!

I'm going to work on food storage and just try to enjoy my kids while they are still little. Stop wishing for them to hurry and grow up!

Is that Sophie in that picture? It sure looks like it.

I haven't made any resolutions yet, I am going write them on Sunday and start them on Monday. (this is the joke in our house)

My goal is to be happy where I am, with who I am, and with others the way they are. I have such a hard time with the way others behave, especially when their behavior is unacceptable to me--I am really going to try to just let them be them, and work on me being the best me I can--and then being happy with my best.

"My professional life has been centered on the home, the well being of the family and everything that these subjects encompass. When I began working in this area more than 25 years ago, the subject of homemaking as it relates to families was largely overlooked, though the interest was clearly broad and the desire for information strong. My colleagues and I soon discovered we were satisfying a deeply felt unmet need."
